Dallas Ugly

The music of Dallas Ugly shimmers with an iridescent nostalgia on their debut album, "Watch Me Learn" (produced by Alec Spiegleman). Built on a foundation of mellow interchanges of electric guitar and pedal steel, the rhythm and flow evoke an old-school country version of lofi hip hop radio. But combined with soaring fiddle and heartfelt vocals, it becomes something wholly new – a sound as unique as it is dreamy. Themes of change, loss, and growth, felt alongside the trio's decade-long friendship, lend themselves naturally to the rolling country music vibes of their melodies and instrumentation. Together, Owen Burton, Eli Broxham, and Libby Weitnauer present a dreamy, last-call rendition of three chords and the truth. If you close your eyes, you can practically feel yourself slow dancing under the lazy orbit of a disco ball at midnight.

Well I don't tread those northern sands no more The ones that blow around in the winds of St. Louis And I only stop through to pay a few dues
To some folks in a hotel past its prime
Oh we toast to the years gone by
Bottoms up for the rest
And the money I drink well it ain't comin back to me Just another thing I’ll leave here in st. Louis
And them stateside boys sure can move around Nobody better in all of St. Louis
Had a bit too much and one or two more
Not the best way to start a new
Oh where was she right then?
Oh where was I?
What all happened that night well it ain't coming back to me Just another thing I’ll leave here in St. Louis
Oh my old girl still drinks just like she ever did First one picking up again in St. Louis
And she comes back up just as I hit the ground Talks about the night she can’t account for
Oh she won't hear me now
Oh she never has
I can't love her no more, though she still does me Just another thing I’ll leave here in St. Louis
Oh I got home somehow
Oh I don’t recall
And the time gone by well it ain’t coming back to me Just another thing I’ll leave here in St. Louis.
