Dead Before Impact

Dead Before Impact is the angry and expressive passion child of lifelong friends Blake Thompson and Tristan T. Roberts. Formed in Nashville, Tennessee in December of 2022, the two friends united their talents and their pains to create music that would relate to people who have experienced similar circumstances. Banded by personal, but parallel hardships, their aim is to create a community that understands one another just by being fans of the same group. To know and get the sense that their issues are shared and that they are not alone in this mess known as life. Their debut single Carousel came out on March 10th, 2023, and immediately set the tone and the expectations for the metal duo. Filled with emotional lyrics, rifts, synths, and screams it communicates the message that "it's okay, not always being okay." The song demonstrates the synergy and potential they have together, with Blake Thompson’s growls playing right into Tristan’s more melodic approach. Growing up, Blake Thompson was surrounded by music and as a young teen, his dad managed and toured with progressive rock bands. He is on the record saying he “knew then that I wanted to be in a rock band and see the world like my dad did.” Mesmerized by the idea of being able to express his words through music, he was influenced by multiple genres. He was introduced to Classic rock bands like Elvis, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles by his grandmother, country music like Johnny Cash and bands like Aerosmith and Motley Crue through his dad, and Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, and rap legends like NWA, Ice Cube, and Tupac through his mom, who he says his tastes align with the most today. Tristan T. Roberts grew up listening to country music such as Tim McGraw and Montgomery Gentry alongside his mom but experienced the duality of sound as his dad was always listening to Godsmack, Disturbed, and Slipknot. When asked about those earlier years he said “I spent a lot of car rides listening to our local rock station, which honestly is a goal to have my own music played on there one day.” Tristan recorded and produced for his first artists in 2012, but started recording and producing for himself 3 years prior. He has since been to college for audio engineering and has been awarded three gold records and two platinum records for his engineering and mixing work with the artist, Jelly Roll. Dead Before Impact is currently working on new music that will precede their first live p

Verse:
I’m on a battlefield
Inside my mind
I’m in the trenches
Of what’s left inside
Look into my eyes and
You’ll feel just a bit
Of the child that was left behind
My back’s against the wall
In the corner of my room
Trying to stop this billow of doom
It pulls me in, it brings me deeper
I’m face to face with the goddamn reaper

Prechorus:
It pulls me in, it brings me deeper
I’m face to face with the goddamn reaper
It pulls me in, it brings me deeper
I’m face to face with the goddamn reaper

Chorus:
I’m trying to breathe
I can’t catch my breath
I can’t see
There’s too much salt in my eyes
I won’t let them bury me
Bury me I won’t
I will find my way back this isn’t me
I’m fighting the enemy inside of me

Verse:
Oh
I can see it in your eyes
You wish we could turn back time
Oh
But there is no recovering me
I’m afraid this is it
My final breath
I can’t win
Feeling this way
Bring me back
Hear me when I say

Chorus:
I’m trying to breathe
I can’t catch my breath
I can’t see
There’s too much salt in my eyes
I won’t let them bury me
Bury me I won’t
I will find my way back this isn’t me
I’m fighting the enemy inside of me

Breakdown:
I’m fighting the enemy
Inside of my mind

The enemy’s inside my fucking head

Chorus:
I’m trying to breathe
I can’t catch my breath
I can’t see
There’s too much salt in my eyes
I won’t let them bury me
Bury me I won’t
I will find my way back this isn’t me
I’m fighting the enemy inside of me
