The Black L.A.B

The Black L.A.B is a hip-hop lyricist, singer, screenwriter, actor, and aspiring director from central coast Cali. Being an African-American kid growing up between Los Angeles and Paso Robles where the two sides of his family were spread, he had no choice but to thrive. His music career began in his Freshman year of high-school in his hometown of Paso Robles. He started off making beats at home with his best friend at the time, inspired by Los Angeles and Bay Area influences. They began an experimental Hip-Hop collaboration called The Savage Patch Kids. Shortly after, his friend fell to drug addiction, and The L.A.B struggled with Public High-School in Paso Robles and found it was necessary to move back to the big city in order to start anew and launch his career in the arts. Music Video: https://vimeo.com/120770908 Levi was as well a competitive public speaker in partnership with his lyricism. He had attended a myriad of high school tournaments, most of which he acquired 1st place, but the tournaments that have made the most impact on his life include the Stanford International Invitational, the California State Championships, and the National Championships held 2k15 in Dallas, Texas. Out of 86 competitors at Stanford University, all from South Korea, India, various U.S locations, he placed 3rd in the event of Dramatic interpretation. (A 10 minute speech given as a monologue.) At the California Championships he placed in the semi-final rounds out of 387 competitors and in Texas for the National Championship he placed top 60 in the nation out of thousands of competitors. This was his first year of Speech and Debate yet he was competing at a Varsity level. His speech career retired at the start of his Senior year of High-school, but the art of reciting has since been his forte. Since graduating High-School, he almost immediately moved to Seward, Alaska, to begin working as a Zip-line tour guide to continue supporting his career in the arts. Between the years 2017 and 2019, with the help of Thrifty50 Productions, he had semi-shot, edited, and produced two music videos; one over the course of 5.5 months in the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUv6IbUGfTo And the other, only with a couple hands, within a month, in various locations in Thailand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDO8GMmnJmI Initially focusing on larger projects, in 2019 he shifted his focus onto an album that he had in the works for nearly four years. I think that I can relate to ya
Last time that I said I was great, I might have fooled ya
Been lower than most southern states
I can assure ya
Every moments like a race
And I got atuner

But maybe you can be my scapegoat
Baby you could be an angel
Always trapping, tapping up the same hoes even though they prolly came cold
Rapping bout ya problems, same old
I been on the move, sue me, sock it to me if I come off a bit hateful
I just see the vision eightfold
Life’s a bitch, I give her facials
I been working like a racehorse
Go to class at night, late course
Studio at home and eighth rolls
F*ck uni, you need to study your main goal
Not what they told you aim fo
And if you did that I ain’t got no more stats about why you should build up your bankroll
Easy does it when I cut it (yuh)
Easy does it when I cut up my budget
So please I need you to quit buggin’
(buggin)
My girl is the reason I ain’t around thuggin'
(thuggin)
Yeah, I keep it 100
(I love it)
never go down as clown or a puppet
I just wanna float above it
(So f*ck it)
Positive vibes are all that I’m frontin
so

I think that I can relate to ya
last time that I said I was great, I might have fooled ya
Been lower than most southern states
I assure ya
Every moments like a race
It ain’t nothin but a thang
It ain’t nothing but a fate
I’m an enigma
But I can’t forget about faith
Follow my Scripture
When life gets tossed in the air
I stay on the ground
And I couldn’t seem to care
cause we’re here and now
I think that I can relate

Careful don’t trip on my nuts
This shit is hot to the touch
Better not cross
Stay in your lane or get bussed
turning these ashes to dust
Never give fucks
only if she wanted some
Cant believe you one of us
Can’t you see the problems sus
Have you not seen what a problem does
If it’s Ominous
Don’t you ever check ya bedsheets
looking for bedbugs and bad dreams?
Have you ever had bad luck when you imagining in whatever that brings?
Do opposites attract maybe more than that
sad love when it's caving?
Ice cold moving like no body I would have like to be catching
I been on tour up in the trees thinkin' real loud
if I were to fall would I feel like it was me against the clouds
And when I go drink I feel it in me
The feeling go south
that maybe this life just ain’t what it seems
and we don’t know how
Traffic in my mind backed up fulla bad bugs
short circuit, I’m at max flux
Stay distracted while I bag bucks
Keep it Kept, never act up
While the world burn I been smoked out
Guess you’ve heard what I know now
Yeah my circle is a ghost town

I think that I can relate to ya
last time I said I was great, I might have fooled ya
Been lower than most southern states
I assure ya
Every moments like a race
It ain’t nothin but a thang
It ain’t nothing but a fate
I’m an enigma
But I can’t forget about faith
Follow my Scripture
When life gets tossed in the air
I stay on the ground
And I couldn’t seem to care
cause we’re here and now
I think that I can relate
