Recently I left school
And went on the dole,
But I used to be a paperboy,
And it was great, you know

I got up at half past six
And had two Weetabix,
And then I put my parka on
And went into the street.

The sky was overcast,
Then dawn would come at last.
I'd walk into the paper shop
And say "good morning Keith".

"Good morning, Keith!"

"Good afternoon," Keith would shout.
Keith marked the papers out.
A boy called Gary helped him,
But he just pissed about.

Before I went I usually
Nicked some penny chews and bubbly,
And then I started on my round.
Outside the air was lovely.
And it mixed well with my bubbly!

I did my round real quick;
I ran to keep me fit,
But always shoved the papers right in,
'Cos otherwise they got nicked.

At number 44
Lived a girl called Wendy Moore,
And I sometimes saw her getting dressed
Through a window on the second floor.

And once I wrote her a rude letter
And put it in her Jackie.
Well she stopped buying it, called me a git,
And told her brother to attack me.

But gone are those happy days,
And the bag I used to carry.
Gone forever is my paper round,
And Keith, and Gary.

Have to go out in bad weather,
See the sun rise over me,
Take my mum a cup of tea,
