Woke up this morning, heard a noise outside
Opened the front door and saw a pigeon on the welcome mat.
I didn't welcome that
But when I looked closer, I saw he had a little note attached to his leg

I bent down and picked up the note
Read it out loud, and here's what it said
I wish you were dead

I'm getting hate mail, via carrier pigeon
Getting hate mail, via carrier pigeon
Getting hate mail via carrier pigeon, oh yeah

I thought to myself, that's quite absurd
Are the post office now hiring birds?
Carrier pigeons, outdated gramps
At least you'll save money on computers and stamps my friend
But that wasn't the end

The very next day, another pigeon with a note
I opened the door, picked it up, and here's what they wrote
You're a terrible songwriter

But what I didn't know, and eventually found out
Was the notes were actually from the pigeons.
Yeah, the notes were from the pigeons

It was so obvious, how did I miss
The notes were written in pigeon English
They must have evolved and learned how to write
And sent me messages disguised as somebody else
Just to give me a fright

Was it something I did? Something I said?
Or did I not offer them enough bread?
I don't know
